With the strategy presented today, OMV is sending a clear signal in favor of a circular economy with a stringent roadmap for achieving its zero-emissions target by 2050. The gradual phase-out of oil and subsequently also gas production is a clear strategic pillar and aligns with the socio-political requirements of a modern energy company.
Security of supply plays a central role in the current geopolitical environment. This underscores the responsibility the company assumes for Austria.
“The transformation of OMV will be an important building block in achieving the climate targets that Austria has set for itself. As a long-term minded investor, ÖBAG can fully live up to its role on this path,” commented Edith Hlawati, CEO of ÖBAG, on today’s presentation of the strategy.
ÖBAG, as the investment holding company, will support management in its implementation. It is also convinced that the capital market will view this transformation as beneficial and value-enhancing in the long term.
