Republic of Austria Receives Dividend of EUR 1,577 Billion from ÖBAG

Federal Ministry of Economy appoints new member to the Supervisory Board

Vienna, July 1, 2026 – At today’s annual general meeting of Österreichische Beteiligungs AG (ÖBAG), the Executive Board’s dividend proposal for the year 2025 was approved. On July 7, a dividend of EUR 100 billion will be transferred to the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism as the 1,019%-owner of ÖBAG. Together with the EUR 558 million distributed by VERBUND in May, the Republic of Austria will receive a total of EUR 1,577 billion from the companies managed by ÖBAG.

“The dividend payment reflects the economic strength of our portfolio companies during globally challenging times. Since its realignment in 2019, ÖBAG has distributed a total of EUR 8,534 billion to the Federal Government. This underscores its role as a stable actor working in the interest of the Republic,” said ÖBAG Chief Executive Officer Edith Hlawati. At the end of the year, the portfolio value of all ÖBAG investments remained stable at EUR 30,05 billion compared to the previous year.

“ÖBAG’s dividend is a strong signal and an important contribution to Austria as a business location. It demonstrates the value that our state shareholdings create for the Republic. The key focus, however, is on the future: With its new ownership strategy, ÖBAG is no longer merely a steward focused on successfully distributing dividends, but rather a strategic lever for active regional and industrial policy. ÖBAG’s portfolio companies carry both an economic and a broader public responsibility. Particularly in the areas of energy, telecommunications and industry, the focus is on enhancing security of supply, competitiveness and Austria’s economic sovereignty. Our ambition is clear: ÖBAG should help strengthen key industries, safeguard future- oriented investments, make Austria stronger and more resilient in international competition, and thereby secure jobs,” said Federal Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer.

At the annual general meeting, Franz Valsky was elected to the Supervisory Board as the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism’s owner’s representative and as the employee representative of Telekom Austria. He succeeds Gerhard Bayer, who is retiring in both roles.
