With more than 2,000 properties, BIG Group is one of the largest property owners in Austria. The portfolio consists of approximately 7.7 million square meters, with an enterprise value (fair value) of approximately EUR 17.2 billion. BIG is divided into three segments – schools, universities and special properties. Office and residential properties are bundled in the subsidiary ARE Austrian Real Estate GmbH. ARE’s portfolio includes 597 properties, comprising approximately 1.9 million square meters. While BIG primarily develops and manages real estate for public institutions, ARE’s portfolio is increasingly used by non-public tenants. In addition to developing individual real estate projects, ARE Austrian Real Estate has established itself as an expert in fully integrated urban district development in recent years.
